Rachel Johnson
WVU Class of 2022
I was born and raised in Princeton, West Virginia, a small town in the Southernmost part of the state. As the daughter, granddaughter and niece of West Virginia University alumni, picking a college to attend was not a difficult choice. I am studying Public Relations with minors in History, Political Science and Appalachian Studies.
Wild and Wonderful Women came about because I was tired of seeing Appalchian women misrepresented. Being Appalchian is synonymous with being a storyteller, and I love that I can use my skills as a media professional to present new narratives about women from Appalachia.
This project was completed through WVU’s Honors EXCEL Program and in collaboration with WVU’s Reed College of Media.
